Our studies were conducted in the Northwestern Region of Madagascar, Boeny Region. The Boeny Region belongs to the western phytogeographical domain of Madagascar, characterized by dense and dry vegetation with a physiognomy predominantly marked by deciduous leaves. For all the vegetation found in this phytogeographical region, water is considered the main limiting factor for their development. The climate of the Boeny Region is a dry tropical type, hot and strongly influenced by the monsoon. Regarding the selection of species, the present study was conducted in two different sites, namely:
